Creating a beautiful garden requires interest and commitment. However, without any knowledge, the beauty of a garden will not last long. The basic knowledge of garden design is as equally important as a plant that needs shower of water and sun.
Watering
Why plants need to be watered?
1. There is no other important task than to water a plant right after you finished with the plantings. With less water, the plants can easily damage when insects attacked and stunned growth. However, too much water can also bring harm to the plant. The soil that kept the excess water can make the plant to get rotten and have diseases.
2. 90% of the problems faced by the plants can be solved by water. Proper watering can save at least 75% of the plants.
3. In most issues, plants need only rain water. However, watering with water pipe supply can also help. The best thing to know when your plants need to be watered is when you find out that the soil dry out between 0.5 to 1 inch depth.
4. How often you need to water your plants depends on the ambient temperature. If the weather temperature maintains at 24 degrees Celsius, once a week of watering is required. But if the temperature reaches 30 degrees Celsius, then you need to water your plant once or twice a day.
5. Another factor that can influence the frequency of watering is the soil condition, the amount of sunlight received, how much your garden being covered by mulch and whether the plants are producing flowers or not. During blooming, the plants require a lot of sunlight and water.
6. Don't use a water hose when spraying water on the plants because the power of the water jet can damage the plants.
7. The best time to water is in the morning and don't do watering in the late evening. Lateness in water will cause the plants or the leaves to be too moist and easily attacked by fungus that are very active during the night.
8. Controlled watering system is the best method if you have a large garden and less time to spend on watering. The best technique is to have small holes along lines of pipe hoses laid out at the base of the plants where water slowly drips out. This method avoids potential lost of water through evaporation. Other technique using spray concept more inclines towards mechanical failure besides the cost issue.
