Koi fish - require a great deal of space to thrive. Depth of the pond should be 4 feet or more. Deeper water means a chance of surviving the winter is great and in hot climate, it provides cooler environment. A 4500 liters or 1000 gallons of pond is a good starting point. Bear in mind that a Koi pond requires specialized filtration system.
